What if every child who wanted a ball could have one?

Horizon Beautiful, the movie we showed at our fundraiser, is about Admassu, a twelve year old homeless boy, who dreams of becoming a futbol star.  When he hears that a Swiss futbol industry magnate is coming to Ethiopia, Admassu goes to great lengths to try and impress him but nothing goes as planned.  

The story is fiction but believable. Henock Tadele, who plays Admassu, lived and worked on the streets of Addis Ababa, and was unable to speak any English before the movie was made. Stefan Gubser, the futbol magnate, is one a famous Swiss actor.

The event was a great success - A big Thank You to all who were able to attend or send in their donations...

We were able to raise $9,250 which was used to purchase 370 balls for distribution in Ethiopia...

 Because the film maker of Horizon Beautiful, Stefan Jäger, and the distributor, Xiaojuan Zhou allowed us to show the movie for free and the cost of the space has been covered by initial donors, EVERY dollar you paid for a ticket and EVERY additional contribution you made went towards the One World Futbol/Ethiopia Reads campaign.

While we were researching the best way to get One World Futbols to Ethiopia, we discovered that they already have a campaign with Ethiopia Reads, an organization that has been providing libraries and books to Ethiopian children since 1998.  Every $25 provides Ethiopia Reads with a One World Futbol and a $5 donation.  

As of Aug. 17th, 2014, Ethiopia Reads had already raised 474 futbols. We want to help them raise many, many more through the Futbol4Ethiopia showing of the Horizon Beautiful movie.
